We bring together handwoven rugs for people who live with what they own. Each piece is chosen for its material, its drawing and its character, and for the room it will spend the next decades in.
The selection
We do not list everything we find.
Every rug and kilim in the collection was chosen. We look past the first impression to the material, the drawing, the build and the way a piece will live in a room.

The craft
Made by hand. With lasting techniques.
Every rug in the collection is hand-knotted by Turkmen families in the north of Afghanistan, and coloured with natural dyes. Every kilim is flatwoven.
- Gördes double knot
- Each Gördes double knot is tied symmetrically around two warp threads.
- Natural dyes
- Colour from roots and plants — kök boya, the root dyes of the trade — which settles and deepens with the years.
- Wool
- The pile is wool: it springs back underfoot.
- Flatweave
- A kilim carries its drawing in the weft itself, woven tight through the warp into a flat, smooth cloth.

Each rug and kilim is a single object, with its own TAR reference and a public record of what it is: where it was woven, the drawing it carries, how it was made and what it is made of. The drawing is shared and may exist at another size; the one in the photographs is the one that arrives. Your order keeps the record as it stood on the day you bought it.
