Every rug carries a TAR reference on its page. It names one physical object, and after the piece sells it is kept in the buyer's order documents.
What we record
Every record holds the facts needed to understand the piece. A field that is not known for a piece is left out rather than guessed.

- The TAR number that names this one piece.
- Origin
- Where the piece was actually woven.
- Tradition
- The design tradition recorded for the piece, where one applies.
- Technique
- How the piece was constructed.
- Material
- What the rug is made from.
- Dye
- Recorded where the dye type is known.
- Colour
- The ground colour of the piece.
- Accents
- The colours that stand out from the ground, where the rug carries them.
- Knot density
- Knots per square metre, where a count is recorded for a knotted piece.
- Size
- Measured for the individual piece.
Style is not origin
A name describes a tradition. It does not decide an origin.
What is written on a piece's page is its record: origin, tradition, technique, material, dye, colour and any accent colours, knot density, dimensions. Origin is stated plainly, from where the rug was actually woven — never inferred from a name.
What travels with it
Each piece travels with its export documentation, including the attestation that it is new work — nothing here is antique, and the paperwork says so at the border.
The record of your order — the piece, its photographs, its specification and its price — is kept as it stood on the day you bought it.
After the sale
The rug may leave the register. Your order keeps its record.
After a piece is sold, your order confirmation and its PDF keep the reference, the specification and the price as they stood on the day you bought it. The public record on this site describes the rug alone; the buyer and the order stay private.
We do not attribute a piece to a named hand, and we do not sell age. If a claim is not on the record, we do not make it.
